The age of integration testing your web domain
One of the last things you will have to consider when setting up your own web site may be how it is actually hosted, or which computer holds your web site data and uploads it to the internet. The internet is sometimes taken for granted in that it exists but doesn’t have a physical form and so we tend to overlook the hardware and engineering behind the magically appearing web pages on our computer screens. But it is simply a lot of very large computers connected together and all the pieces of data have to be stored on one of these machines. The system is of course much more complicated than that. The internet has grown steadily since the early computer networks began and through Integration Testing and relentless software evolution we are able to have access to information on a scale that has never been seen before.
The computers that hold this data, or servers, are the physical skeleton, if you like, of this vast body of knowledge and that is where your web site lives physically live in the real world. The space required for web sites of small firms or individuals is generally not very big, but larger operations will need much more space. Certain features, such as mail and sub domains, may also be required or greater bandwidth depending on the design and needs of each particular web site. Specialist companies can give you a larger share of choice over hosting options or provide dedicated servers.
