Shared hosting sized and configured for CubeCart stores, on servers we have been running e-commerce on since 2007.
A CubeCart store has requirements a general purpose plan does not always meet: the right PHP version and extensions, sensible memory limits, a database engine that handles concurrent writes properly, and caching that never serves one customer’s basket to another.
Our plans come configured for that, so CubeCart installs and runs correctly without you having to ask for settings to be changed.
Shared hosting suits the large majority of stores. If your catalogue runs to many thousands of products, or your traffic is heavy and sustained, you will do better on fully managed CubeCart hosting or a dedicated server.
We would rather tell you that at the start than sell you a plan you will outgrow in a month.
Migrations are free and we do them regularly. We copy the store across, get it working, let you test it, and change DNS only when you are satisfied. Nothing goes live until you say so.
We also write and support our own CubeCart plugins and skins, so if you need the store to do something it does not do out of the box, ask.
A CubeCart store has a handful of configuration details that make a real difference and that a general purpose host will not know to check.
Email that arrives. Order confirmations landing in a customer’s spam folder generate support tickets and refund requests. We configure SPF and DKIM correctly from the start, which is the single most common thing we find wrong on stores migrating to us.
Caching that is safe for a shop. Aggressive page caching on a store can serve one customer’s basket to another. Our configuration caches what is safe to cache and leaves the rest alone.
PHP settings sized for a shop. Memory limits, execution time and upload sizes that suit bulk product imports and image uploads rather than defaults intended for a brochure site.
Free SSL, issued and renewed automatically. Your checkout requires it, and an expired certificate closes a shop until somebody notices.
Two things account for most of the CubeCart problems we are asked to fix, and both are avoidable.
Deferred upgrades. Every upgrade skipped makes the next one larger, until the store is several versions behind on an unsupported PHP version with plugins that will not run on anything current. If you would rather not think about this at all, our fully managed CubeCart hosting handles upgrades for you.
Untested backups. Backups are taken daily and you can restore them yourself, but it is worth actually trying a restore once so that you know the process before you need it in a hurry.
Full CubeCart support is included with these plans, not sold separately. That covers questions about the software itself rather than only about the hosting underneath it.
It is worth stating what that is actually worth. The usual experience of a store owner with a problem is a hosting company saying it is a CubeCart issue and a developer saying it is a hosting issue. Here it is one company and one ticket.
