What has changed in CubeCart V5.2.13
This update has been two months coming since 5.2.12 was release back in early June but is worth waiting for as there has been numerous bug fixes but also some good new functionality. There are no security issue fixes within this release, so there is no immediately urgent requirement to upgrade but it is strongly recommended especially if you would like to use any of the following new functionality. If your store uses discount coupons or gift certificates, then the whole code base around this functionality has been rewritten to make it much more robust. If your store sells products at different tax rates (for example books and videos) the new inherited tax for shipping costs will justify an immediate upgrade ! Another improvement if you are a European based business and VAT registered, is the new simple tax configuration for all EU countries and finally CubeCart is now able to send store emails using secure SMTP.
- Complete rewrite of discount codes and gift certificate redemption
- Shipping now has the ability to inherit the average basket tax rate
- Improved automation to “Cookie Domain” setting with session lockout prevention
- SagePay Form payment gateway protocol upgraded from 2.23 to 3.0
- “Assign to European Union” added to tax configuration instead of one country at a time
- New EBS India Payment Module
- All shipping and billing address fields added to order reports CSV export
- “SMTP with SSL” setting added as email send method
CubeCart V5.2.13 Upgrade
If you are already running CubeCart V5, then completing this upgrade can often be as simple as clicking on “Upgrade” within the Admin | Maintenance area. However there are some points to note specific to this version upgrade and if you are not comfortable with any of these then we strongly suggest that you order the CubeCart upgrade service from us.
- Put the store into maintenance mode and then always do a full backup before upgrading
- Always test the store immediately after the upgrade, before taking the store out of maintenance mode
- If you have made any changes to core files or any of the core skin files then these will be over-written
- If you are using the 3rd party Vector skin then this requires a small change to one core file. This is still required even though the CubeCart team have now added a new hook but the Vector skin still needs to be upgraded in order to use this
